Parts related information is an important aspect of the shipbuilding enterprise. Parts data is somewhat different from other types of product data in that its usefulness spans across programs and particular hulls. It offers a unique opportunity for data sharing and increased efficiencies among shipyard and the Navy.

A multi-shipyard Common Parts Catalog has been funded jointly by industry and NSRP and is currently operational at Electric Boat, Bath Iron Works and Northrop Grumman Ship Systems Avondale and Ingalls Operations). Further implementations are in the works. A more complete description of the CPC deployments and the business case for CPC can be found at http://www.nsrp.org/cpc.html.

This ISE parts information models reflect the CPC data model and classification scheme. They provide the formal documentation of the open standard parts data model deployed by the CPC project.
